Capitals Sign Cody Eakin

The Washington Capitals have signed their 2009 entry draft third-round pick, Corey Eakin, to a three year entry level contract, announced vice president and general manager George McPhee. Financial terms have not been disclosed.
The 19 year old is 5'11, 180 pounds, and hails from Winnepeg, Minnesota. He is in his fourth season with the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League, and is currently their leading goal scorer. He recorded 48 points in 54 games for the Broncos last season, according to NHL.com. He participated in the Capitals' summer development camp, and the rookie and team camps in September.
