Chris Henry, 26, died Thursday morning.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police listed the time of death at 6:36 a.m. Henry was on life support after sustaining what police called "life threatening injuries." He fell out of a pickup truck being driven by his fiancee on Wednesday.

"It is with great sadness to learn Chris has passed away," Henry's agent, Andy Simms, said in a statement. "For those who knew Chris, he was nothing like his public perception. A loving and caring individual, he was thankful for what he had in life, and proud of what he had overcome."

Authorities in the Charlotte area have yet to announce the cause of death. Mecklenburg County medical examiner investigator Carol Cormier said they were expecting to receive the body later Thursday.

On Wednesday, following a domestic dispute, Henry's fiancee got behind the wheel of the pickup truck and started to drive away from the residence. Chris Henry jumped into the bed of the truck, and at some point was thrown out of the truck and into the road. He was found eight miles north of Charlotte.

Bengals president Mike Brown also spoke about Henry today. "He was good at what he did as a player, he was a teammate to our players and a friend to almost all of us in the building," Brown said at a news conference Thursday at the team's headquarters. "We knew him in a way that [was not consistent] with his public persona. We liked him. He had worked through troubles in his life ... to a point where he was going to have the future we all wanted for him and that he wanted for himself.

Henry was known as a troublemaker around the NFL due to countless off the field incidents throughout his collegiate and professional football careers. This season, everyone said Henry was working on his problems and had begun to lead a better life.

"We talked before every game and he would just say go out there and handle your business, said Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco." "I don't know what else to say. He had been doing everything right."
