Jerome Dyson out for remainder of the season

With less than one month until the NCAA Tournament, UCONN was dealt a major blow this week after learning that point guard Jerome Dyson will be out for the rest of the season. Dyson injured his knee last week in a matchup against Syracuse after running into a Syracuse player during a screen.
There was a possibility that Dyson might have been able to return at some point this season, but surgery this past Monday revealed that he will not be able to play the rest of the season.
The point guard had been averaging 13.2 points per game and 3.2 assists per game, and had started in each of UCONN’s 24 games so far this season.
If Monday’s 76-68 home loss to Pittsburgh was any indicator of life without Jerome Dyson, then hopes for a national championship this season are certainly not as high as as they were.
The Huskies still have games against South Florida, Marquette, Notre Dame, and Pittsburgh remaining. The Big East Tournament is set to begin at Madison Square Garden on March 10th.
