Many ears are buzzing about the new trade between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Redskins. The Eagles traded away 11-year veteran Donovan McNabb to the Redskins for draft choices in this year’s NFL Draft. Today, McNabb was announced at 12:15 as a Washington Redskin by new Head Coach, Mike Shanahan.

Last season, McNabb passed for 3,553 yards with a 92.9 passer rating. He passed for 22 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, leading the Eagles to the playoffs. In the upcoming 2010 season, the Redskins are hoping that he will bring that same energy to the table. In today’s induction, McNabb said, "I've always believed in finishing where you started…I think there's a lot to be said with that. Not a lot of quarterbacks in this league are able to do that these days. Sometimes change is better. Sometimes you're forced into change. I would have loved to (stay in Philadelphia), but it didn't happen." With these words, one can only presume that McNabb did not want to leave Philadelphia. However, he claimed that he does accept his role as the new starting quarterback in D.C. McNabb also commented on the departing of Brian Dawkins from the Eagles a season ago in 2008. He stated that “it just goes to show what type of organization that Philadelphia has. Dawkins was a big part of the Eagles franchise and them letting him go was a rude awakening for the rest of us on the team that we are all replaceable.”

McNabb stated that he spoke with Jason Campbell and stated, "That this wasn't one of my plans, to try to come and take his spot…I told him 'The sky's the limit for you. Continue to hold your head high."' We will see what happens with that. In the upcoming draft, it is projected by many fans that the Redskins will now pursue an offensive line for their newly acquired quarterback and running backs. However, many are concerned that the Redskins may go for a quarterback in the draft with the first round pick.

Many things are up in the air at the moment, but fans are just really happy to see the Redskins finally making some positive changes to build their team.
