The Seattle Mariners are giving Erik Bedard another chance to redeem himself as the dominating pitcher the team was sold on two years ago.

The Mariners re-signed the left-hander to a one-year, $1.5 million contract Friday.

Bedard's signing was reported by several sources including Jim Street of MLB.com, Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports, Larry LaRue of The News Tribune, Marc Brassard of Le Droit and U.S.S. Mariner.

Bedard came to Seattle with much fanfare and anticipation two years ago. After trading five top-level prospects for Bedard, including All-Stars Adam Jones and George Sherrill to the Baltimore Orioles, Bedard has underachieved during his time in the Pacific Northwest.

Injury, and an unwillingness to go deep into his starts, has plagued Bedard's tenure in Seattle. He is 11-7 with a 3.24 ERA in 30 starts since 2008.

Bedard is 51-41 with a 3.71 ERA in eight big league season.
