Nashville Predators

Mr. Optimist –

“See those new jerseys?  They’re pretty cool, and they’re totally not mustard colored.  I can’t wait for the season to start, especially now that Steve Sullivan is signed and healthy.  The Preds went 18-20-3 last season when he was out and 22-14-5 when he played.  Not only that, but he totaled 32 points in 41 games…after the surgery!  Talk about a boost to the line up.  I don’t see, with Sullivan back, how a slow start to the season is possible.  There’s enough cap room to sign a top-forward too, which would be huge.  And when you look in net, I don’t see any real reason to be concerned.  As a rookie, Pekka Rinne posted a .917 save percentage and earned 29 wins with seven shutouts.  Those are some impressive numbers.  Also, Steve Sullivan.”

Mr. Pessimist –

“Missing the playoffs that year wasn’t really that big of deal, I mean, we are 0-4 in playoff series anyways.  Oh, and last year’s 88-point campaign, which resulted in a last place division finish, was our lowest point total in five years.  The power play is ineffective, and nobody has been signed to help deal with that.  The same pretty much goes for the entire offense.  Will Steve Sullivan be able to stop the goal total from declining for a third-straight year?  Doubtful.  We didn’t add any big names and we’ve lost some key players like Radek Bonk, Vernon Fiddler, Scott Nichol, and Greg Zanon.  I won’t be surprised by another last place finish in the Central, and golfing in the spring.”
