Rolen Leaves Game after Getting Hit By Pitch
Sunday, August 2, 2009Posted by John Shields
New acquired Scott Rolen left just his second game for the Reds after being struck on the batting helmet by a pitch from Jason Marquis. With Brandon Phillips on first and nobody out, Rolen was plunked by a pitch from Colorado starter Jason Marquis. Rolen, still looking for his first hit in a Reds' uniform, never lost consciousness and walked off the field on his own accord escorted by Reds' manager Dusty Baker and their trainer.

I am glad that the MLB is starting to fine pitchers more often - if we are going to break the trend of pitchers hitting batters in retaliation I think we need stricter punishments. Here is an interesting article about pitcher retaliation: https://www.mindreign.com/en/mindshare/Sports/Hit-By-Pitch/sl40763392bp413cpp10pn1.html
