Kvapil On Standby For 77
Sunday, April 26, 2009Posted by
Penske Racing will have a standby driver for Sam Hornish Jr. on Sunday, after Hornish started experiencing flu-like symptoms. "Our intention is for Sam to start the race," said Jonathan Gibson, Penske’s VP of Marketing and Communication. Travis Kvapil was named the relief driver for Hornish. Kvapil previously drove the 77 for Penske. Hornish qualified fourth for Sunday’s race, which is a new career high for the second year driver. As long as Hornish starts the race he will gain the drivers points for were ever Kvapil finishes. Last season Hornish finished 35th in his only career start at Talladega.
