Sabathia Shuts Out Twins
Tuesday, June 10, 2008Posted by Jayk Baechle
After a double by Ben Fancisco in the first inning, Ryan Garko singled with two outs to bring Fancisco home. That one run would be the difference in the game as C.C. Sabathia shut out the Twins for a 1-0 win.
The fans went home after the game under a light sky as the game went just a few minutes past 2 hours long. Sabathia gave the fans more than just the dollar hot dogs as a treat tonight as he threw his second shut out of the season, looking just like the C.C. of last season who won the A.L. Cy Young Award.
The Indians have now won more than one game in a row for the first time since sweeping the Oakland Athletics in mid May.
The Indians collected a total of nine hits throughout the game but could not get another run home after the first. It turned out they didn´t need to.
Josh Barfield, who was just called up on Monday for Asdrubal Cabrera, left the game after spraining his middle finger in an at-bat during the game. Manager Eric Wedge said that Barfield is going to be day-to-day.
