Texas Power Rankings
Tuesday, April 7, 2009Posted by
1. Jeff Gordon- He was number one last week, why would he drop after winning? Anyway Homestead is the only track on the circuit where he is yet to win.
2. Jimmie Johnson- With Sunday’s second place finish that makes four straight top 10’s, including the win at Martinsville.
3. Tony Stewart- Now with fourth and third place finishes respectively in back to back races Stewart has slowly risen in the point standings and power rankings, he is starting to silence the people who say driver-owners can’t compete anymore.
4. Denny Hamlin- After two straight second place finishes he dropped to a 12th place finish Sunday, all while being one of the many under the radar drivers this year.
5. Clint Bowyer- How about this for consistency, with his 22nd at Texas that is the first time in 21 races he did not record a top 20.
6. Kurt Busch- Talk about a bounce back year, Busch has four top 10’s and a win this year, compared to just one at this point this year.
7. Kyle Busch- He has two wins this year and three top fives, but in his best finish in the other races is 18th at Atlanta and Texas, he needs to be more consistent.
8. Matt Kenseth- His fifth at Texas is his first top 10 since he won the first two races of the year.
9. Jeff Burton- After finishes of 28 and 32 to start the year he has bounced back nicely with three top 10’s in the five races since, including a ninth a Texas.
10. David Reutimann- He hasn’t blown anyone away this year with just one top 10, but he has finished in the top 20 in every race so far except Atlanta where he finished 32nd.
