This Week in the Central

Monday Oct. 12 - Sunday Oct. 19

Chicago Blackhawks

A busy, four-game week starts tonight with an intriguing playoff rematch against a one-loss Calgary team.   The Hawks and the Preds meet on Thursday, with both teams coming off games the previous night.

Monday Oct. 12 – Calgary Flames

Wednesday Oct. 14 – Edmonton Oilers

Thursday Oct. 15 - @ Nashville Predators

Saturday Oct. 17 – Dallas Stars

Columbus Blue Jackets

Not too much going on this week for the Blue Jackets, but a long road-trip is looming.  This week offers ample time to rest and opponents whose strong suit is defense; meaning Steve Mason has an opportunity to bounce back after looking shaky while giving up six goals in a loss to the Sharks last Thursday.

Tuesday Oct. 13 – Calgary Flames

Saturday Oct. 17 – Los Angeles Kings

Detroit Red Wings

Will Chris Osgood continue to stand on his head?  He opened the season looking worse than ever, and then responds with stellar play and impressive wins against the Blackhawks and the Capitals, two offensive powerhouses.

Tuesday Oct. 13 - @ Buffalo Sabres

Thursday Oct. 15 – Los Angeles Kings

Saturday Oct. 17 – Colorado Avalanche

Nashville Predators

The end of this week ushers in the beginning of Smashville’s (from here on out I will refer to them as Smashville, because it’s cool) stretch of Measuring Stick games.

Monday Oct. 12 – Edmonton Oilers

Wednesday Oct. 14 - @ Dallas Stars

Thursday Oct. 15 – Chicago Blackhawks

Saturday Oct. 17 - @ Washington Capitals

St. Louis Blues

A quiet week for the Blues, and that’s probably a good thing after stringing together unsightly losses to the Thrashers and the Kings.

Thursday Oct. 15 - @ Phoenix Coyotes

Saturday Oct. 17 - @ Anaheim Ducks

GAME OF THE WEEK

Monday Oct. 12 – Calgary Flames @ Chicago Blackhawks

-Two exciting teams capable of playing very good hockey.  Tonight’s tilt features an explosive Chicago offense taking on one of the best defenses in the league.  Throw in the added spice of Calgary looking to avenge last year’s opening round playoff defeat, and you have the potential for a great game.  TiVO it, use your DVR, do whatever; just don’t miss this game.
